Project Tiger : Corbett Tiger Reserves

There are many animal like elephant, chital, sambar, nilgai, gharial, King Cobra, muntjac, wild boar, hedgehog, common musk shrew, flying fox, Indian Pangolin, and nearly 600 type of birds. The Total area of the Corbett National Park was 324 sq. km. to which 198 sq. km. was added later. In 1991, kalagarh forest division and Ramnagar forest division are include in one area. The area of 798 sq km was added to the Corbett Tiger Reserve.

Jim Corbett National Park is one of the greatest wildlife in Asia. Jim Corbett name is coming form Edward James Corbett who born on July 25th, 1875, in Uttaranchal. Jim Corbett’s father was postmaster in Nainital. James Corbett was a great hunter. His most time spend in jungle. Corbett Wild life covers an area of 520-sq-kms. Jim Corbett National Park is the first national park of the India.

Established in 1936 as India’s first national park. Corbett in famous for its wide range of wildlife and its gorgeous location in the foothills of the Himalayas by the Ramganga river. With the current addition of the sonanadi wildlife sanctuary to the west, Corbett has grown from 520 to 1318 sq km.
